Jib features, explained: what the app actually does for your jobs
Short answer
Jib turns a photo of any home job into a plan with steps, tools, materials and a cost range. It flags whether the job is DIY safe or legally needs a tradie, and checks your AI Toolbox so you only buy what you're missing. Every job, shopping list, reminder and before-and-after photo is kept organised by room.
Here’s what each part of Jib does, and why it’s there.
Photo → full job plan
Point your camera at anything that needs doing, like a cracked tile or a sagging gate, and Jib works out the job, titles it, and files it under the right room. When you’re ready, the AI writes the plan: steps, tools, materials, a realistic cost range for where you live, and how long it’ll take.
DIY safe or tradie required
Every job gets a verdict in its top-right corner. Green: DIY safe. Red: tradie required, with the exact step that needs a licensed electrician, plumber or gasfitter. It’s based on the rules where your house is, and it’s strictly about the law, not difficulty. How the verdict works →

Tools and materials, per job
Each job has two lists:
- Tools: what you need, ticked off if it’s in your Toolbox, with a Buy button if it isn’t. Add tools yourself from your Toolbox with Add a tool.
- Materials: the consumables to buy, with quantities and where to get them.
One shopping list
Materials from every job, plus the tools you’ve chosen to buy, land in one list grouped by store. Tick a tool off and it moves into your Toolbox.
Reminders for the recurring stuff
Gutters, smoke alarms, air-con filters, deck oiling: set a job to repeat and Jib reminds you before it becomes a problem.
Before and after, room by room
Every finished job becomes a before-and-after pair in that room’s gallery, and a timeline of your home. It’s handy when you sell, and satisfying the rest of the time.
Built for your climate
Plans account for your local climate, soil, storm season and termite risk. The same job gets different advice in Darwin than in Hobart, because it should.
